Combining Cosmetic Surgery Procedures: Is It Safe?

By Orlando Florida Plastic Surgery

Orlando Cosmetic Surgery Procedures Commonly Combined

Many factors need to be considered when combining cosmetic surgery procedures. Breast and abdominal surgeries work very well together for example. Rhinoplasty is often combined with other facial procedures like a chin augmentation or even with some body procedures such as breast augmentation.

You must also be cautious that you are having your procedures done by a qualified board certified plastic surgeon such as Dr. Rotatori, a top board certified cosmetic surgeon in Orlando. In general, if your procedures can be completed within six to eight hours, then it is reasonable to combine them. However, as the length of surgery increases, then the risk also increases.

Combined Cosmetic Surgery Procedures: The Mommy Makeover

One of the most common combined cosmetic surgery procedures is The Mommy Makeover. It’s a combination of procedures to bring a woman’s body back to the way she looked prior to pregnancy. Most commonly some variation of a Tummy Tuck and Breast Surgery are performed. The most common breast procedures include Mastopexy (breast lift), breast augmentation, or breast reduction. Additional procedures can include liposuction and umbilical hernia repair.

Healing after a tummy tuck will require time. Some patients are out of bed and walking the night of surgery and every hour while awake. Patients are generally allowed to return to work at one to two weeks with 14 days preferred. However, it is strongly recommended that patients avoid any lifting or straining. At three weeks, increased level of activity is allowed and at 6 weeks full activity can return. The actual fat contouring can be done non-surgically as well with CoolSculpting.

Typically such combined operations are often performed with Gynecology colleagues. Tubal ligation is a common post pregnancy procedure, which is done at the time of many of the surgeries included with Mommy Makeovers. Therefore, if you require a gynecologic operation or study (laparoscopy) and are considering a plastic surgery procedure, discuss these issues with your doctor.

It may be possible to add additional procedures such as those mentioned for approved candidates. Schedule a free consultation with Dr. Rotatori to discuss your treatment options. Combining these procedures decreases anesthetics, costs, and recovery time. Let us help you determine a plan to get the body you’ve always wanted.
