The Meaning of Cosmetic Surgery Board Certification

To practice medicine in the United States, doctors must be licensed by the states in which they practice. However, being licensed does not indicate whether a doctor is qualified to practice in a medical specialty, such as cosmetic surgery.

By choosing a board certified plastic surgeon in Orlando who is certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery, Inc., you can be assured that your cosmetic surgeon has graduated from an accredited medical school and has completed at least five years of additional training as a resident surgeon in a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Medical Education. This includes a minimum of five years of residency training in all areas of surgery, including at least two years devoted entirely to plastic surgery. To become a board certified plastic surgeon, the doctor then must pass comprehensive written and oral exams. To make sure board certified doctors continuously refresh and expand their knowledge, Member Boards have also established the ABMS Maintenance of Certification program for career-long self-assessment, learning and improvement activities.

Why Dr. Rotatori is a Trusted Board Certified Cosmetic Surgeon

Board certified plastic surgeons in Orlando, such as Dr. Scott Rotatori, are trained to perform cosmetic surgery. They are experts in both facial and body procedures. Dr. Rotatori is trained to prevent and, if necessary, handle emergencies. A comprehensive education, including a sound foundation in anatomy and physiology, provides Board Certified plastic surgeons with an understanding of all body systems.

Board certified plastic surgeons have extensive training that develops technical skill and aesthetic judgment. Experience gained during years of training in complex reconstructive surgery provided Dr. Rotatori with outstanding technical skills.

Because state laws permit any licensed physician to call him -or herself a “plastic” or “cosmetic” surgeon – even if he or she has not trained as a plastic surgeon or has had no surgical training at all – prospective patients must select their doctor carefully.

Dr. D. Scott Rotatori is a board certified plastic surgeon in Orlando who has practiced for more than 17 years. Dr. Rotatori offers patients a unique approach to cosmetic surgery by offering proven treatments and procedures that provide you with the results you're looking for. Contact Dr. Rotatori today to learn more about these life-changing procedures.
